The loop

Four beats, and you already know the whole game.

Core Shift has one rule and no tutorial text. Everything after the first level is the same idea asked harder.

01

Observe

Your orb rides its ring. Every ring inside it turns at a different rate, and neighbours turn against each other.

02

Align

A gap sweeps toward your angle. It is open for a fraction of a second, and it is the only way in.

03

Shift

One tap. The orb holds its angle and falls inward a single ring. There is no steering and no second input.

04

Core

Clear every ring and the orb meets the core. Clip an arc instead and the level restarts in under a second.

On the phone

Nothing on screen that is not the game.

No energy meter, no currency counter, no banner across your thumb. A level number, a pause control, and the rings.

One tap away.

Ring behaviour

The rings are the difficulty.

Nothing is added to make a level harder — no timer bar, no second button, no enemy. A ring is given a different way to move, and that is the entire design space.

Every one of these is announced before it matters. A level you cannot read is a bug, not a challenge.

  • Counter-rotation

Neighbouring rings turn opposite ways, so the window closes at the sum of both rates.

  • Stop and go

A ring holds still, then eases back into motion. The pause is bait.

  • Narrowing gap

The opening breathes between two safe widths. It never fully closes — that would not be fair.

  • Reversal

A ring thins and pulses a quarter second before it changes direction. You are always told.

  • Synchronised

Several rings lock to one rate. Find the alignment and you can take two gates on one beat.

  • Hazard arcs

A live segment marked in red, hatched and pulsing — never signalled by colour alone.

Modes

Three ways in. Same core.

Levels

Six hundred hand-built stages on a curve that starts at one ring and ends somewhere you would not have believed on day one.

600 levels

Endless

Rings keep coming inward and the core keeps retreating. It ends when you miss. It always ends when you miss.

Score attack

Daily

One generated level, the same for everyone, replayable until midnight. Compare the run, not the luck.

New every day
